Atmosphere

I’m working on an orchestral cover of Atmosphere by Joy Division.  It is scored for Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Bassoon, Horn in F, Piano, Strings….so far.  This is for a project I’m working on with the Noise Floor Crew of Chicago.  I’m providing them with acoustic source material that they can then run through an electronic blender.  So far, they’ve treated my Sextet very nicely and I hope to have a string 4tet I wrote just for this project included with the Atmosphere cover.

Also in the works is a Violin/Piano duo for the Duo Figer-Khanina of New York, a violin duo for my pals in Anaphora of Chicago, something fun for the Corky Siegel Chamber Blues, and something special for my husband, violinist Aurelien Pederzoli.

The Calm Before the BrainStorm

I am working out a few ideas that will probably result in at least 3 new pieces.  This is the best stage of composition…when you can think freely, with no boundries or timelines.  These are just IDEAS, unbound by any relation to the world choked by the laws of physics.  It’s the next stage that I dread most…trying to rationalize my ideas.  But for now, I will enjoy the IDEAS!
